Feel at Ease With Your Dental Care
Have you always dreaded the dentist? A past negative experience, feeling vulnerable, or fear of judgment may have kept you away. And as your dental health suffers on the backburner, you grow even more hesitant to seek care.
At Peninsula Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, we understand. That’s why we offer sedation dentistry in Charleston at our Savannah Highway location.
You Could Finally Relax With Sedation Dentistry
Dental anxiety is common, but it doesn’t have to keep you from caring for your oral health.
You deserve to feel safe, supportive, and truly relaxed during your dental appointments. With our sedation dentistry options in Charleston, you could:
- Feel relaxed throughout your visit
- Experience minimal discomfort and anxiety
- Reduce your awareness of time passing
- Complete multiple procedures in fewer visits
- Regain confidence and take control of your oral health

Sedation Options We Offer
We provide various sedation options at our Savannah Highway location.
If you need sedation, we’ll help you determine which option is right for you and tailor your treatment to your level of anxiety.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
A mild sedative inhaled through a mask, nitrous oxide helps you relax while remaining fully awake and aware. The effects wear off quickly, allowing you to resume normal activities immediately after your appointment.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Taken as a prescribed pill before your appointment, oral sedation induces a deeper state of relaxation. The effects can vary from person to person. While you remain awake, you may feel drowsy and have little memory of the procedure. A trusted companion will need to drive you to and from your appointment.
IV Sedation
Administered intravenously, this option provides a deeper level of sedation for patients with severe dental anxiety or for longer procedures. While patients are typically conscious during IV sedation, your level of consciousness may vary. Most patients feel deeply relaxed as our team monitors you closely throughout the procedure. IV sedation requires a responsible adult to drive you home after treatment.

Is Sedation Dentistry Right for You?
Every patient has different needs.
Sedation isn’t right for everyone or for every appointment, but sedation dentistry may be the right choice if you:
- Experience dental anxiety or fear
- Have a strong gag reflex or difficulty sitting for extended periods
- Require multiple procedures or longer treatments
- Have had traumatic dental experiences in the past
- Struggle with sensitive teeth or difficulty getting numb
Our team will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine if sedation dentistry is appropriate for your individual needs and medical history.
